Creating Meaningful Measurements: How to Create and Benchmark Maturity through Surveys and Metrics

Jonathan Thomas, Senior Research Insights Director at National Safety Council, will provide insights on how to create, deploy, collect, and analyze data to measure maturity of your culture of safety. Jonathan leads the NSC Annual Benchmark Survey and will use this experience and knowledge to improve your survey process. He will provide theoretical and real-world examples of what to include in surveys and the importance of proper survey techniques and data analysis.

This PDS will give you the tools to conduct truly impactful workforce safety surveys less often and better to continually improve safety programs, management systems and mature your organization’s culture of safety and productivity.

This PDS will provide a detailed explanation of the value, process, and applicability of employee safety perception surveys as a set of leading indicator performance metrics. More technical issues regarding employee perception survey benchmarking, validity, reliability, practicality, and utility will be discussed.

Hands on exercises and case study illustrations of the evaluative, action-planning, and continuous improvement features of employee perception surveys will be outlined.

Lessons learned, potential pitfalls, and practical advice based on over 35 years of conducting workforce safety perception surveys will be provided.
