Evaristo Leonardi is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the International Business Unit and Energy Infrastructure at AES. He oversees operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction for assets outside the USA, spanning 3 continents, 11 countries, and over 55 operational sites, managing 19GW capacity and leading a team of more than 4,000 people. Evaristo is currently responsible for 22 construction projects with a budget exceeding $3.6 billion. He serves as President of the Board of Directors for AES El Salvador and is a board member of the National Safety Council.
From 2014 to 2021, Evaristo led the Global Operations Support teams as Chief Transformation Officer, heading AES’s digital transformation, which added over $500 million in value. He also served on the Boards of AES Sul and AES Tietê. Prior to joining AES, Evaristo worked for La Electricidad de Caracas in Venezuela for 13 years in various roles. He holds an MBA and a Finance Specialist degree from IESA, an Advanced School degree in Power Engineering from Penn State University, and an Electrical Engineering degree from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela.
